An idea that buyers and investors needed to see working.
African Cocoa Marketplace connects buyers with certified cocoa sellers across Africa, with transparent supply chains. The team needed a working marketplace to show buyers, experts and investors, not a slide deck, and they had to be able to manage every seller themselves without calling a developer.
- Seller details such as tier, certifications and volume had to be searchable
- Search had to sit behind a simple sign up, so the team knew who was looking
- Certification tiers needed explaining in plain language
A marketplace the team runs from WordPress.
We built the MVP on its own subdomain with WordPress and Breakdance, styled to the ACM brand. Each seller is a profile the team edits in the back office, and buyers search them with filters that match how the industry actually buys. After launch we stayed on to look after the site every month, including fixing a WordPress fatal error and tuning performance.
